The 2011 workshop presenters were a highly experienced software developer and an accomplished commmunications professional. Together, they helped participants to understand and successfully navigate the Internet as a marketing tool for small businesses.

Mike Archer

Mike is a co-founder of Digital Engine Software, a custom software development and design company, where he is responsible for web site development and search engine optimization.

Mike graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics. Mike was trained in statistical and mathematical modeling as well as optimization and pricing methods. His professional experience includes analysis and web application development for companies like Cash Grain Bids. At Cash Grain Bids, Mike helped to develop a first-of-its-kind grain marketing tool that enabled grain elevators to push bids to local farmers. Here, farmers can sell their grain online to the elevators and schedule pick-up or drop-off time as well. 

Laura Rhodes

Laura founded Third Sector Consulting Group in 2008 to help charities and charitable givers increase awareness for their programs and build their brand by using effective communications. 

Laura graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business.  She has more than 15 years experience in communications and community relations, having worked with Fortune 100 companies and nonprofit organizations. Today, she supports businesses and nonprofits with marketing initiatives, using traditional media as well as new media. She has facilitated a number of social media workshops for small businesses and nonprofits, and she chairs the Marketing Committee for the Greater Gallatin United Way.
